Kevin Ferguson is an Executive Sr. Vice President of Kratos Defense (NYSE: KTOS) and the General Manager for Micro Systems Inc. He joined Micro Systems in 1982, starting off in the engineering department as an RF Design Engineer, and during his 30 plus years with the company he has developed a deep understanding of the organizations operations, technologies, and customers through leadership positions and fulfilling different roles within the organization. Prior to his current role, Mr. Ferguson was Vice President of Operations providing senior leadership to the manufacturing and engineering departmental managers and was integral in the long range strategic planning of the organization. Before that, he held the position of Vice President of Engineering where he provided technical guidance and coordinated development efforts among hardware, software, and system level engineering staff. Mr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics from Auburn University.
DONALD R. WILKEVice President, Finance
Donald "Don" Wilke is the Vice President of Finance for Micro Systems Inc. He is responsible for the company's overall business management financial activities including contracts and pricing, financial planning, tax, internal auditing, investor relations, and trust administration and investments. Mr. Wilke joined Micro Systems in 2003 and has an extensive background in the defense industry regarding mergers and acquisitions, consolidated financial reporting, internal control compliance, and Federal Acquisition Regulation compliance. Prior to joining Micro Systems he was the President of REICO, Inc. a defense electronics company. Mr. Wilke holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of Missouri-St. Louis, a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from Monmouth University, and is a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Florida.
DALE M. GATESVice President, Business Development
Dale Gates is the Vice President of Business Development for Micro Systems Inc. He is responsible for the generation of new business opportunities, worldwide sales and marketing, and provides technical direction for long range strategic planning including the development of new products, capabilities, and internal research and development endeavors. Mr. Gates joined Micro Systems in 1985 as a staff engineer and since then has held positions of increasing responsibility including Director of Engineering and Vice President of Advanced Programs. He has an extensive background in vehicle and ground support command and control systems for remotely piloted high performance aircraft and ground vehicles and was integral in the early development of many of these systems for the company. Mr. Gates holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
DAVID E. LAIRDVice President, Operations / Program Management
David Laird is the Vice President of Operations and Program Management for Micro Systems Inc. He oversees operation of general business activities and is involved in the strategic long range planning of the organization. Additionally, Mr. Laird also coordinates all program management efforts involving the U.S. Department of Defense and International customers worldwide. He joined Micro Systems in 2001 as a lead systems engineer for all products and tasks associated with the U.S. Army Engineering Services Contracts at Micro Systems. From there, Mr. Laird advanced to Director of Programs where he oversaw all program management activities related to the U.S. Army and Navy. Mr. Laird holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Math and Computer Science from the University of New York, Plattsburgh and Master of Science degrees in Software Engineering and Business Administration from the University of West Florida.
MICHAEL OWENSVice President, Engineering
Michael "Mick" Owens is the Vice President of Engineering for Micro Systems Inc. He provides technical oversight for multiple development programs and leadership in the strategic areas of technology research and development, engineering, and operations. Mr. Owens has an extensive background in systems engineering and has been integral in the design of electronic and mechanical subsystems for unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, command and control systems, ancillary vehicle support equipment, and advanced radio data link communication systems. Prior to his current position at Micro Systems, Mr. Owens was the Director of Engineering at Tracor Flight Systems where he was actively involved in the development of several instrumentation radars, high power RF transmitters, Electronic Warfare training systems, operator consoles, and Electro-Optic (EO) tracking systems. Mr. Owens holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
